Here you can see the route we have cycled as well as a questionable drawing trying to express our rough over all route plan.
When looking at the map, please note that our track is not 100% accurate and some parts are hand drawn. Especially in Germany there are some stretches where we were unable to recall which roads we cycled. From France onwards it is based on our GPS recordings and hence more accurate.
We started our 10 year world tour on 18.8.2018 by cycling from Helsinki, Finland to Turku where we took the boat to Stockholm, Sweden. From there we headed south through Denmark and pedalled all of Germany.
Here you can find our videos about the adventures in Sweden, Denmark and north and south Germany.
We crossed France and arrived in Spain where we had to make the final decision on where to pedal next: Africa or Asia? Or we didn’t have too, since we instead let our followers on Instagram decide. A small video about our thoughts on this (and the final poll result) can be found here.
The answer was Africa. We took a ferry from Spain to Africa and cycled through Morocco and across the Sahara desert to Senegal and The Gambia.
While we were in The Gambia, the 2020 pandemic closed borders all around the world and we found ourselves spending the year in the small West African country waiting for the borders to open. When 2021 approached and there still weren’t any border openings in sight, we decided to move on to continue cycling elsewhere. We flew to Finland to repack and fly to Kenya to continue our tour in East Africa, but due to some issues with the airline as well as an unfortunate development in the pandemic situation in East Africa we needed to change our plans once again.
Crossing borders wasn’t really an option anymore in the beginning of 2021, so we set out on another exciting adventure – cycling north to the Arctic! Across Finland during the coldest time of the year was an interesting challenge, and definitely worth it.
In spring of 2021 Matilda got ill, and she won’t be able to cycle longer periods anymore. Peyman flew back to Africa in December 2021, to Kenya where he is now cycling towards South Africa. Matilda will hopefully be able to join for parts of the journey.
Later, the tour around the world will continue towards Mongolia to cross South-east Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas from south to north. That’s the rough plan at the moment anyway, let’s see where the roads take us.

During this trip, we have only travelled by plane twice (from The Gambia to Finland, and from Finland to Kenya) and we will continue to avoid it as far as possible.
Welcome to join our crazy adventure!
Ps. Please don’t be offended by how I drew your country wrong. We are all lucky I’m not a cartographer. /Matilda
